Meta opens Muse avatar calls to US users across mobile, web and Mac

Meta says Muse Voice, including calls and avatar video chats with its consumer AI agent, is now available to everyone in the United States, TechCrunch reported on November 5. The feature was introduced at Meta’s Connect conference in September and uses Muse Realtime Avatar and Realtime Voice technology. The rollout covers mobile, web and Mac; support for AI glasses and the planned Muse Charm device is described as coming later.

Users can customize the default animated character into a person, animal or another character. Meta says the avatar uses expressions and gestures suited to the conversation. Despite the video-call framing, TechCrunch specifies that Muse hears the user but does not see them: this is an animated conversational presence, not a two-way camera call.

We previously covered Muse’s adult-content positioning and its paused shared-chat feature. This update concerns the interface rather than a new intimacy policy. Giving a general-purpose agent a responsive face makes it easier to experience as company, even when the underlying task is ordinary. The US rollout expands access to that feeling; it does not establish how users will relate to it over time.
